Lake Success Dentist
Do you want to make sure that your teeth and gums stay healthy? If so, you need to have a great at home teeth cleaning regimen of brushing and dental flossing. However, it is also going to be important that you come to our practice for regularly scheduled teeth exams and cleanings. Many people think that if they are taking good care of their teeth at home, they do not really need to come in and see a dentist unless they have a toothache. However, the truth is that having periodic teeth cleanings will definitely help you prevent gum disease. Our
Lake Success dentist, Dr. Alan Kuznick, will advise you as to the importance of having regularly scheduled teeth cleanings in order to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Our dental practice is Alan S. Kuznick DMD. Patients enjoy coming to see us because they know that they will have a relaxing and stress-free time in our dental office. We value our patients and treat them as members of our extended dental care family. We encourage patients to come in every six months or so for periodic teeth cleanings. This time frame may be shorter if our patient has a current gum problem or a specific medical problem which may affect their gum health. Professional dental cleanings are very important because tarter can only be removed with professional cleaning tools. Tarter is a hard, mineralized substance which cannot be removed by regular tooth-brushing no matter how hard you try. When tarter is allowed to stay on teeth it will encourage the development of deep pockets between the teeth and gums. These deep pockets will collect tarter, bacteria, plaque, and food debris, and eventually infection will form. At this point you will have gum disease. When the infection goes down to the jawbone teeth will begin to loosen and fall out. The infection from gum disease can move to other parts of the mouth and even other parts of your body. It is much easier to come to our dental practice for teeth cleanings rather than having to see our Late Success dentist for more involved gum treatments.
If it is determined that you have gingivitis, a precursor to gum disease, our
Lake Success dentist will most likely recommend that you have several regular teeth cleanings over the coming months to return your gums to good health. If it is determined that you have developed gum disease, the take our dentist may well recommend that you have a periodontal scaling and root planing treatment to get your gums healthy once again.
